Having everything organised like a military operation, we had checked in and emerged from the chaos of the registration area by 5:30 so that we could get on with the important business of freezing in the pre-dawn chill.  We shuffled about, lubing and stretching and yawning in nervousness as much as tiredness.  The run I had been preparing for since last September was about to commence. Many a time...

As dawn arrived on the Glasshouse Mountains the bulk of the intrepid Caboolture Road Runners were busy preparing for their duties at each allotted checkpoint.  Anja and myself headed off to checkpoint 3a, and using my extensive local knowledge of the area I told Anja of a handy back road that would save us heaps of time!  Unfortunately thousands of trail bikes and 4wds had taken their toll and tur...

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm" Winston Churchill.I have no enthusiasm so I'll leave it to the successful members of our Black Team Steve H, Peter Ferris and Bruce C to finish the race report. But I will express our collective heartfelt thanks to Steve M, "Mappo", absolutely the best crew ever.

Race 6 is scheduled for Redcliffe and Anja had a great idea that if we meet at Pelican Park at Clontarf we can take in a run over the new Ted Smout Memorial Bridge (see above).  Everyone should be pumped for B2B at the end of the month and on a flat course the racing will be fast and furious.  No hills.....damn.Also note new date of Sunday 8th August as The Lakes College Fun Run is on 15th.

12.07.10

A reasonable turn out of 12 hardy runners showed up for the CRR Handicap Race 5 inaugural Annual Mountain Climb despite the fact that there were so many clues dropped on the website in the preceding week that even Blind Freddy could work out that the course might have a bump in it called Mt Beerburrum.  Even more surprising to us was that Anja and Bill B turned up to join in after stellar performa...

Bill and I had a great run as you said on the web, our split times were pretty good as we were listening to all the advice we got from fellow Marathoners! Bill and I stuck together for the first 28km which was really good as I slowed him down when he tried to speed off and he made me run a little bit faster than what I would have been on my own. He then decided it is time to take off and I could o...

Last weekend of course was the Gold Coast mega event and I was on-line Sunday in between gardening duties, checking live results as the marathon progressed.  Geoff W finished in 3:45:01 and as we noted last week, he’ll now bring his experience and good humour to the CRR Gold Kokoda Challenge team on 17 and 18 July (yes guys, you'll still be out there on the 18th). Speaking of the challenge, neith...

Very remiss of us to overlook this very important performance by one of our elder statesmen, Bruce Cook, at the Queensland Athletics Cross Country Championships in early June.  This is what you call a “quality” field with the first 8 places all well under 32 minutes for 8k or 4 minutes per k.  Bruce almost broke 29 minutes, which is screaming, finishing second overall and first in his category.  A...

I made a Boo Boo. Will pointed out to me that there was an error in the results from Race 4 at Woodford.  In Will's case I entered the incorrect old handicap.  This is now fixed under the News article or hereThanks to Will's close scrutiny. not to mention his honesty, this means that Anja finished ahead of Will by one place and improves her overall position in the pointscore which she now leads in...
